XP has added new servers in our Chicago Cermack datacenter. All our Chicago servers are running the following hardware:

Our network transit providers in Chicago consists of only the top tier in the business incuding ATT, Level3, Savvis, Global Crossing and Game Rail!

Well try our test ip's on the game servers page and you will only notice 10ms difference than our Toronto server. Please note that we will also be upgrading our Toronto location within the next month or so.

XP is adding new servers in the highly popular Chicago Cermack datacenter. We will be offering premium 1000 FPS servers out of this location. Latency from Toronto is very similar as peering is shared with Bell and Rogers Communications which are major ISP's in Canada. All Hardware will be Quad2Core and sowftware Windows 2008 Server.

What is redirect url ? Redirect is an option in most game servers, you will notice in your server.cfg or config.ini files a line that reads redirectURL="rcs.xpservers.net/". If your server is running custom campaigns, custom maps or modifications then players will need to have these files in order to play there. If player's have not already obtained and installed the necessary files, they can autodownload them directly from the game server if the server has set sv_allowdownload to 1 (which is default, and you will almost certainly want it so). when running new custom maps the speed of the default server download is inadequate and may take a long time to download. This is where the http download feature comes in. You can set the game server to redirect the autodownload files to be sent from our HTTP redirect instead. This feature is highly recommended for servers running custom files of several megabytes. You will notice an 80% increase in download speed. The best thing is XP servers automatically syncs whatever is in your servers directory to our http redirect server every morning at 6am. This means you dont have to log into a seperate ftp server to upload your files twice.
